Library policies

Rules & regulations for members

These rules keep the collection fair and available to everyone. The loan period and fine rate shown here always reflect the library’s current settings.

Membership

Membership is open to all enrolled students and faculty of the polytechnic. Accounts are created by the library desk — ask at the counter to be registered.

Your student ID is your library card, both at the kiosk and for the online portal. Do not share your portal password; the library will never ask for it.

Members are responsible for all items issued against their account. Report a lost ID or suspicious activity at the desk immediately.

Borrowing

A book is issued for 7 days, and you may have up to 4 books on loan at a time.

A loan can be renewed once, on or before its due date, provided the title has no pending reservation.

Reference copies, journals and current-issue magazines are for library use only.

Returns are made at the self-service kiosk or the circulation desk. Check your loans anytime in the portal.

Overdue notices & fines

An overdue fine of ₹2 per book per day applies after the due date. Fines are payable at the desk or online from your student portal.

Email reminders are sent two days before a due date, and an overdue notice follows if a book is late — but the due date stands regardless of whether mail arrives.

Borrowing is suspended while any fine or overdue loan is on the account.

Question papers (PYQ repository)

Previous-year question papers are available as PDFs in the question paper repository, free for all members.

Papers are provided for personal academic use. Redistribution, selling or hosting them elsewhere is not permitted.

Care of books & conduct

Handle borrowed items with care. Underlining, folding or writing in books is not allowed.

Food, drinks and phone calls are not permitted inside the reading area; please keep the library quiet.

A lost or damaged book must be replaced with the same edition, or its current price plus a processing charge paid, as decided by the librarian.

Hours & contact

Open Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 IST, through the academic year.

Questions about these rules? Call +91 360 221 4455 or write to smartlibraryrggpc@gmail.com — or use the contact form.

Rules are framed by the library committee and may be revised from time to time; the prevailing noticeboard version governs.
